Independent Geopolitical Analyst
Russian Foreign Policy & Hybrid Warfare
Nadina Ronc is an independent geopolitical analyst specializing in Russian state strategy, hybrid warfare, and influence operations. Her research focuses on irregular warfare, gray-zone competition, and great-power rivalry, particularly Russia’s expanding military and political influence in Africa.
In January 2026, the Joint Special Operations University published her monograph From Guns for Hire to Military Doctrine: Russia’s Institutionalization of Influence in Africa—Implications and Recommendations for U.S. Special Operations Forces. The report analyses Russia’s transition from Wagner-linked proxy structures to the state-run Africa Corps and the implications for Western security strategy.
Her work has been highlighted by SOF News and Small Wars Journal, where it was described as one of the most comprehensive assessments of Russian gray-zone activity in Africa and its implications for special operations forces.
She has previously authored a monograph on Russian influence in the Western Balkans. This work was financially supported by the Strategic Studies Institute at the U.S. Army War College.
She is currently based in the UK. Originally she is from Bosnia, a country she fled during the war. Ronc brings both lived experience of conflict and a cross-regional analytical perspective shaped by Western and Southeastern European approaches to geopolitics.
